Blink-182 Frontman Reveals Cancer Diagnosis

Mark Hoppus, co-founder of pop punk band, Blink-182, has recently opened up about his cancer diagnosis.

The 49-year-old musician shared the news via Instagram Stories on Wednesday, 23 June.

He shared a photo of himself undergoing chemotherapy at an undisclosed hospital with the caption: “Yes, hello. One cancer treatment, please.”

Hoppus posted a more lengthy, optimistic message on Instagram the following day, detailing how he had been undergoing treatment for the past three months, and is expecting to endure it for many more. No mention of which type of cancer he has was made.

He said: “I have cancer. It sucks and I’m scared … I’m blessed with incredible doctors and family and friends to get me through this.”

Ever the clownish optimist, he concluded the message with: “Can’t wait to be cancer-free and see you all at a concern in the near future. Love to you all.”

Needless to say, the news shocked the fans of Hoppus and the band, and social media was soon flooded with well wishes and heartfelt messages.

Fellow Blink-182 bandmate, Travis Barker, extended his support: “I will be with him every step of the way on stage and off and can’t wait for us to play together again soon.”
